There is an A/C idle up valve(88690-89132) and an A/C Diaphram(88606-35020)that it connects to. More likely than not, it is the idle up valve. The use to go bad quite often in the day, or at least with your particular complaint that is the first thing I'd look at to replace. The idle up valve is relatively inexpensive at $23.70 MSRP.
In town, when I turn on the A/C, the compressor turns on, the VSC switches and the A/C idle up on the carburetor increases the RPM at idle to about 900 (which I have set using the FSM directions). While idling or after driving for a few minutes, however, the A/C idle up VSV kicks off, and the idle goes back to 600 (or a little less since the
Aug 8, 2012. #4. With the A/C comes a circuit that rev's up the rpm's at idle, because the compressor is a "load" to the engine. The A/C is resposible for the rpm drop. What you did with turning up the idle is "a" solution but I would use the hand throttle. Pretty useless to run 1000 rpm when you don't need it.
2WD. AUTOMATIC. 83,000 MILES. I am having a problem with the idle of my 2003 Chevy Tahoe. Its a V8 5.3 L. When I start the Tahoe and the motor is on drive it idles at 500 RPM but it will drop to about 200-300 RPM's but never does it turn off. At this point when the idle drops below the 500 RPM mark the AC will blow hot air.

All of the vacuum lines look good and appear secure. Also the idle up seems to work when engine is cold. After engine warms up idle drops down and with A/C on it is almost stalling. So the A/C idle does not seem to be working. This 1992 22re seems to be different from the 1988 truck engine.
7. My 2005 Honda Accord I4 is idling fine when cold but once warm it begins "revving" on its own between 1200-2000RPM at about 0.5Hz. The vehicle initially threw a DTC P0507 ("Idle Air Control System RPM Higher Than Expected") within a few minutes of starting but after disconnecting the battery (see troubleshooting below) I haven't been able to
